The Basics About This Device

Coeus is a newly emerging name in the HnB industry. Coeus 2017 device, Arch, first came on our radar while we were researching Aokey. Turns out, they are made by the same manufacturer, just under different names. Since Aokey has such good user reviews, we figured we’d give Arch a try as well!

Arch, like Aokey and LTBE, the other Coeus device we’ve reviewed, is a simple but effective HnB device. Arch is multi-use, offering up to 22 cycles, has a temperature adjustment function, and heats in only 3 seconds! Unfortunately, Arch does not offer self-cleaning. All functions are controlled by the one control button, making the device very easy to operate.

Our Thoughts on This Device

For the price this is a good device. It’s basic in function for sure, but an excellent fit for casual users or anyone who is new to HnB and doesn’t want to spend a fortune. You get a pretty good number of uses out of this device at 22. That’s more than IQOS 3.0 Multi and many other knock-offs! We also like the heating process only takes 3 seconds and the cycle length is quite long for a device that only costs $25USD.

Our one concern is that the outer material does feel a bit… plasticy and fragile. We’re a bit worried that if dropped it could crack, although we did not test this theory. All I would say is handle this with care. Arch does come with a one-year warranty, but if the device is damaged as a result of mishandling, the warranty will no longer apply.

We’re happy to report though that the inside of the device seems incredibly solid. We connected with the manufacturer directly who let us know that Coeus uses PEEK and ceramic material inside all their devices. PEEK is one of the top plastic materials on the market as it is incredibly resilient, has great heat resistance, and is chemically very safe, making it a great material to heat the tobacco found in HeatSticks. It’s great that Coeus chose to make their device with such high quality materials and still managed to keep the device at a reasonable price. Arch definitely deserves more recognition!

Unboxing & How to Use

In your Coeus Arch kit you will find the device, the manual, a USB cable, and a cleaning brush.

As always you’ll want to charge your device before using it. To do so, connect the device to a power source with the USB cable. As the device charges, the LED indicator lights (which are located on the front, bottom right-hand corner of the device) will light up to show the amount of charge reached. 4 lights indicates 100%-75% charge, 3 lights, 74%-50% charge, 2 lights, 49%-25% charge, and 1 light 25% charge or less. When the device is fully charged the LED lights will turn off.

At this point the device is ready to use. To start the heating process click the control button 5 times in rapid succession. When the process has started the device will vibrate and the LED indicator lights will begin flashing. At this pint, you can choose your desired temperature setting, by pressing and holding the control button until the LED indicator lights change color. Green indicates low temperature, red indicates high temperature.

After about 3 seconds the device will be ready to use. The cycle itself will last around 4 minutes and 40 seconds, at which time you can push up the HeatSticks eject slide and discard of your used HeatStick. Since it is a multi-use device, if you need another cycle, you can simply load a new HeatStick and begin a second cycle.

To care for your device, clean regularly. Unfortunately Arch does not offer a self-cleaning function so you will have to rely on the cleaning brush that is provided in the kit. Use it to carefully brush away any gunk that is stuck in the HeatSticks heating chamber. We recommend cleaning at least once per week, depending on how often you use the device.
