Even though Ploom is a pretty big HnB brand in some parts of the world, this is the first Ploom device we’ve been able to test. Ploom Model S is a device with a unique design. It is somewhat similar to GLO Pro or GLO Hyper in function, as it uses induction heating, rather than a heated blade. Ploom Model S offers you two settings which change the temperature and heating time. You get 24 consecutive uses, regardless of which setting you choose. The device charges in just 90 minutes.

We were pretty impressed with Ploom Model S. It’s very easy to use and to clean. It’s definitely a good option, especially for only $45USD! The only problem with it, is the logistics of actually getting it. Currently, Ploom Model S is only available in Russia with no overseas shipping. For our overseas readers, even if you do manage to get it, you still have to purchase the HeatSticks for it. The HeatSticks that are compatible with Ploom Model S are called Winston Smooth Tobacco Sticks and are only available in — you guessed it — Russia. It’s a shame as Ploom Model S is quite a cool device.

DESIGN: Ploom Model S has a very unique design that we haven’t seen before. This device uses induction heating, just like GLO, and does not have a blade.

In your Ploom Model S kit you will find; the device, the manual, a Quality Control Card, a USB cable, and a USB adaptor.

Once you’ve unboxed your Ploom Model S device you’ll, want to check its charge. To do so, just close the heating chamber with the sliding top, then open it again. When you open it, the light bar on the front of the device will turn on. If all the lights in the bar turn on, the device has full power. The fewer lights in the bar that turn on, the less power is remaining. If no lights turn on, then the device needs charging. To charge, just connect the device to a power source via the USB cable. Charging takes only 90 minutes.

HOW TO USE

Now that your Ploom Model S device is charged you can begin using it. To do so you must first choose which setting you want; Standard or Boost. Depending on which setting you choose, temperature and the heating time will change. With Standard the device will take 20 seconds to heat and will operate at a lower temperature. With Boost, the device will take 50 seconds to heat and will operate at a higher temperature. Regardless of which setting you choose, you will still get 24 consecutive uses.

STANDARD:

1. 1. Unlock by opening the sliding top of the device
   2. Insert HeatStick
   3. Press and hold control button until you feel 1 vibration, then let go
   4. Lights will flash and begin turning on
   5. When ready to use device will vibrate again and lights will turn solid
   6. Warning vibration and lights flash will when cycle is almost done
   7. Vibration then the lights will turn off
   8. Remove HeatStick
   9. Close sliding top to lock

BOOST:

• 1. Unlock by opening the sliding top of the device
  2. Insert HeatStick
  3. Press and hold control button until you feel 1 vibration, then keep pressing and holding until you feel a second vibration, you can now let go
  4. Lights will flash and begin turning on
  5. When ready to use device will vibrate again and lights will turn solid
  6. Warning vibration and lights flash will when cycle is almost done
  7. Vibration then the lights will turn off
  8. Remove HeatStick
  9. Close sliding top to lock

Something to note, is that the device can overheat. If it does, it will not turn on until it has cooled again. You will know it has overheated if you press the control button and a light runs up and down the light strip at the front of the device. Wait a minute or two and it should be ready to use again.

If you ever need to reboot your Ploom Model S device, just close the sliding top, click the control button 5 times and wait 5 seconds. The device should vibrate and the lights flash.

To keep your device in good health, you’ll want to clean it every so often. Luckily, Ploom Model S is quite easy to clean, as it does not have a blade. To clean it, just wait until the device is cool, then use a cleaning brush or cleaning stick to wipe the inside of the heating chamber. The Ploom brand does product their own HeatSticks, however there are various lines of HeatStick that all work with different Ploom devices.
