WOULD WE RECOMMEND?

When we tested Koken K1 Max we were really surprised to find that despite advertising 25-30 continuous cycles, our test users got 37 consecutive uses! That’s a great amount! Unfortunately, though we did have some trouble with the charging on our device, which makes us think that even though K1 Max is powerful, it might not be best to rely on this as a primary device. Moreover, the price is simply too high for the quality.

Seeing as K1 Max is the first HnB device Koken’s created, these minor issues are to be expected. We look forward to seeing future Koken devices, as this company shows promise.

QUALITY: The frame is solid, but we had some difficulty with the functions.

DESIGN: Koken K1 Max definitely has a unique design. It’s got a gorgeous hint of sparkle, but is still sophisticated looking.

In your Koken K1 Max kit you will find; the device, the manual, a USB cable, a cleaning brush, cleaning sticks, and a cleaning cloth.

When we get new devices we always check the charge before using them. Usually you can check the charge by clicking the control button, but with Koken you have to connect it to a power source to check how much charge is remaining. Once you’ve done that the light will either turn red, to show that more charging is needed, or it will turn green, to show that it is fully charged. We did have a bit of a problem with our device as our device never changed to green. It just kept flashing red. We’re guessing this is a defect with our device.

HOW TO USE

Hopefully your charging worked better than ours. Once your device is charged you can use it by following the steps below;

1. Set temperature
   • Press and hold control button
   • You will feel 1 vibration, keep holding the control button until you feel a second vibration
   • The light will change color when the temperature setting changes
     • green = low temperature
     • blue = mid temperature
     • red = high
   • let go once you’ve set your desired temperature
2. Insert the HeatStick
3. Press and hold the control button until you feel one vibration, then let go
4. First vibration and light will begin flashing green to show heating has started
   • heating takes approximately 20 seconds
5. Device will vibrate and light will turn solid when heating is done and device is ready to use
   • cycle lasts 4 minutes, 20 seconds
6. Device will give warning vibration before turning off
7. Two more vibrations when the cycle is over
8. Remove HeatStick by pushing the HeatStick eject button up and pulling HeatStick out

To maintain good device health you’ll want to clean your device regularity. The manufacturer recommends you clean the device once every 20 HeatSticks. There are lots of cleaning accessories included in the Koken K1 Max kit which helps make cleaning easier. You are given a cleaning brush and cleaning sticks for the heating chamber, and a cleaning cloth for the outside of the device.

HEATSTICKS OVERVIEW

The Koken brand does produce their own HeatSticks, called Fogfaery. However, their devices are also designed to work with other branded HeatSticks, such as HEETS and Marlboro for IQOS HeatSticks.

Fogfaery HeatSticks are made by Guigang Guojian Bio-Technology Co. Ltd. in Guangxi, China, a subsidiary of Koken. Fogfaery HeatSticks are nicotine-free. To learn more about Fogfaery, click here.
