PMI Releases 2019 Integrated Report
Today Philip Morris International (PMI), the maker of IQOS, released their first ever Integrated Report. The Integrated Report is “a comprehensive overview of the company’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance and its progress toward delivering a smoke-free future.”
HIGHLIGHTS
- In 2019, PMI heavily invested in the research, development, and commercialization of smoke-free products, like IQOS
- 98% of research and development expenses
- 71% of commercial expenses
- In 2019, revenue from PMI’s smoke-free products was 18.7% of total net revenue
- 2019 smoke-free product shipment volume was approximately 60 billion units
- The number of people who had switched from cigarettes to smoke-free products increased by 3.1 million between 2018 and 2019
- PMI announced it achieved “42 percent absolute reduction of CO2e scope 1+2+3” in 2019
- PMI is working to eradicate child labor from their supply and manufacturing process
